Endangered Collection: The Hector

The Endangered Collection, launched in 2020, was inspired by endangered marine animals. Each frame, created from rescued fishing nets and recycled plastic, is named after a specific marine animal.

The Hector, worn by Amanda Holden and Ashley Roberts, has a timeless design; a flat bridge for maximum comfort and will bring out the best in any outfit.

Our Hector sunglasses are the namesake of Hector’s dolphin, the smallest and rarest species of dolphin. They are an endangered species with only 7,000 left in the world. Their habitat is in the coastal waters of New Zealand.

Due to their proximity to the shore, Hector’s dolphin are threatened by recreational and commercial fishing. Gillnets are regularly used in fishing but are incredibly dangerous to dolphins. These nests are undetectable underwater because of their fine meshing, so dolphins accidentally swim into them.

How can you help Hector's dolphin and other endangered animals?

  1. Choose plastic-free alternatives - 17.6 billion pounds of plastic is leaked into our oceans from land every year. Choose products that are plastic-free or use recycled plastic.
  2. Avoid unsustainable brands - avoid products linked to harming endangered creatures. Try researching the products that you suspect may use unsustainable methods.
  3. Vote for representatives who support ocean policies - find out each representatives' policy on oceans issues and hold them accountable for putting these policies into place.

We hope that by naming our frame after Hector's dolphin, we will raise awareness of their plight and the importance of practicing sustainability.
